Who we are
Prerana is an NGO in Solapur, Maharashtra, India and was founded by Pramila Ubale. Here, children from the slums are given the opportunity to attend school, the chance to receive training and career prospects. In addition to regular health checks, Prerana also offers IT and sewing courses for children and young people. Older women who no longer have a family or who have been abandoned by their families are also looked after here and given the opportunity to become self-employed.

Our mission
Our mission is to take children off the streets, away from child labour and away from begging, and to offer them a way out of the slums by giving them the opportunity to study and learn a trade. We enable older women to become independent, so that they can provide for their families.

Empowering women and girls
Despite the legal equality of the sexes, women are still severely disadvantaged in India's male-dominated society. We support women and girls in particular to lead an independent life
Help for self-help
We offer help for self-help. Our young people are given the opportunity to attend various courses and learn how to look after themselves.
